What is skin resurfacing?
Skin resurfacing is a treatment used to reduce the visible signs of aging and achieve a smoother, more radiant complexion. Aesthetica delivers skin resurfacing via a variety of lasers, including the Vivace RF Microneedling laser and TempSure™ Envi, a state-of-the-art laser that uses pulses of radiofrequency energy to penetrate deep into your skin.
The 1540 laser on the Icon is another laser that can be used for old and new scars and other skin resurfacing. The pulses work at a cellular level, encouraging your cells to regenerate collagen, an essential building block for a firm completion. After treatment, you should notice an improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines.
What does skin resurfacing treat?
Laser resurfacing can improve the appearance of many skin-related conditions. Laser resurfacing is often used to soften fine lines or wrinkles around or under your eyes, on your forehead, or around your mouth. It also helps to:
- Brighten sun-damaged skin
- Minimize dark spots
- Smooth or eliminate scars from acne or chickenpox
- Improve your complexion and correct yellowish or grayish skin tones
- Fade birthmarks, such as linear epidermal nevi
- Shrink enlarged pore or oil glands on your nose
- Tighten sagging skin
To provide these treatments, your practitioner may use one or more energy – or light-based technologies to give you the best result.
What should I expect during skin resurfacing?
Radiofrequency energy into is sent deep into the skin. This process gradually raises the temperature of your skin within a safe range of 40-42 degrees Celsius. This temperature range promotes the production of collagen. Once the treatment is complete, your skin temperature returns to normal.
What should I expect after skin resurfacing?
Around 7-10 days after spa services treatment, the cellular rebuilding process begins. Tissue growth factors work on a molecular level to create a new supportive network of collagen and elastin bonds underneath your skin. About a month after treatment, these new bonds have fully formed, helping to smooth away wrinkles and provide a more youthful look to your skin.
